This beautiful program combines the charming landscape of the Sacred Valley with visits to archeological centers of great value such as Ollantaytambo, the original fortress of the Incans that still conserves its principal vestiges of interest. For those who wish to browse local artisan an other hand-works, there is the artesanal market of Pisaq. Depending on the season, at night we may accommodate you in the Camping Lodge Huayruro Wasi which offers one of the best sites for seeing the night sky. The following day, it's off to the Incan city of Machupicchu and that same night, a return to Cusco.
Day 1: Visit to the Sacred Valley
- Bus visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas
- Complete day excursion into the valley of Urubamba with visits to: Pisaq village, a small village with Creole and colonial influences
- Lunch in Urubamba
- Transfer to the main plaza of Ollantaytambo where you may visit the architectural complex of Tahuantinsuyo which was once a grand complex of agriculture, administration, and social, religious and military elements
- In the night we offer a traditional dinner with the famous Pachamanca: different meats, cheeses and vegetables accompany potatoes cooked slowly over hot stones in an earth oven. The night is spent in a camping lodge on the banks of the river Vilcanota. Beneath the stars, enjoy a warming camp-fire.
Day 2: Ollantaytambo-Machupicchu-Cusco
- Breakfast and transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo
- Bus to- and from- Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu
- Excursion to the lost city of the Incas, one of the most famous examples of Incan architecture
- The lost city is surrounded by an exuberant forest and misty mountains
- Return from Machupicchu to Cusco
