The Inca trail is a hiking circuit extremely important in the history of South America. This amazing route is characterized by its original Incan architecture with a series of archeological remains dispersed along the length of its trail. The trail cuts through an intermingling of the jungle and rainforest , providing a freshness for whomever desires to experience an alternative way of entering the Incan sanctuary of Machupicchu.
In order to best prepare for the hiking tour, it´s advisable to take two days of acclimatization in the surroundings of Cuzco so that our team can offer all the facilities and comforts necessary to enjoy the route to its fullest.

Reservas Camino Inca

Day 1: Cusco (3,350m // 10,990feet)- km82 - Wayllabamba (3,000m // 9,842feet)

  • camino-inca23_400Early morning bus departure from Hotel - headed to Km82 of the Cusco- Machupicchu train line.
  • Where we shall begin our hike along the Urubamba River until reaching the first archaeological site  of Llaqtapata-Cusichaca (2,650 m // 8,694pies), where we partake of a delicious lunch. Subsequently we climb until reaching the village of Huayllabamba (3000 m // 9,842feet), where our first campsite lies.

Day 2: Wayllabamba (3,000m // 9,842feet)  - Paqaymayo (3,600m // 11,811feet).

  • After a wholesome breakfast we begin the climb to the first pass  (Warmiwañusca 4200 m // 13,779feet), machupicchu10which is the highest point on the Inca Trail. The ascent takes most of the morning, traversing diverse ecological levels where we can observe the wide variety of orchids and bird species that inhabit this magical landscape.
  • From the summit of the pass, the second pass can be observed along with the Inca archaeological complex of Runcuracay and our campsite in the valley below where we shall be arriving after a 2-hour descent. The campsite affords a beautiful view of the glaciers of the Verónica range (Cordillera Urubamba).

Day 3: Paqaymayo (3,600m // 11,811feet) - Wiñaywayna (2,650m // 8,694feet)

  • This day is the most varied of our adventure, beginning with the climb to the second pass of Runcuracay (3,900m // 12,795feet) machupicchu1from where the snow-capped summits of the Cordillera Vilcabamba are seen. This is followed by a two-hour descent that brings us to the fascinating Inca archaeological complex of Sayacmarca. After exploring this spectacular site, we continue along the original Inca Roadway with an astounding display of waterfalls, valleys, canyons, rivers and snow-capped peaks like Salkantay that dazzle the eye. We eventually reach the third Pass - Phuyupatamarca (3,600m // 11,811feet)- from where we catch our first glimpse of Machupicchu Mountain. A long descent brings us to our final campsite in Wiñaywayna, considered one of the most beautiful of Inca sites.

Day 4: Wiñaywayna (2,650m // 8,694feet) - Machupicchu (2,450m // 8,038feet) - Cusco

  • After breakfast we bid our porters farewell and continue on the final stretch to Intipunku, or Gateway of the Sun, machupicchu3where devotees of flora and fauna will find much to appreciate. From Intipunku we have our first and best view of the lost city of the Incas: the legendary Machupicchu (2450m // 8,038feet). We can enjoy the tranquility of the Inca City visiting with a guide-led visit. The rest of the morning is free to explore the site on our own.
  • In the afternoon we descend to Aguas Calientes and return by train to Cusco

  • Transfer from Train Station of San Pedro Cusco  to Hotel.
  • Number of visiting hours in Machu Picchu:  5h to 6h

PLEASE NOTE: On day 2 it is possible to hire the services of a personal porter to carry one's backpack up to the summit of the first pass or as far as the campsite. We recommend doing this is you feel that you are not fit or prepared for the long climb. It is certainly more important to enjoy the trek rather than to suffer through it. Coordinate this through your guide and pay the porter directly. The going rate lies in the vicinity of $ 10 US Dollars or 35 Soles in Peruvian currency.
